What is Pilates?
The Pilates Method is a form of exercise just about a century old developed by its namesake Joseph Pilates. Joe incorporated elements of martial arts, yoga, boxing gymnastics and dance to create exercises that would increase strength, flexibility, and at the same time help to improve the health of the spinal cord, thus improving the body's alignment and posture.
Can anyone do Pilates?
As long as you do not suffer from any serious illness where a doctor should be involved, Pilates is a great form of exercise for all fitness levels, including pregnancy. Because the method is designed to be done one on one, beginner to advanced students can be safely challenged under a teacher's supervision. 
What are the benefits of doing Pilates?
Because the emphasis in the Pilates Method is control and form most exercises are done only 3 to 5 times. Usually the student does not become very sore and feels energized and taller after the workout.The workout uses the entire body so not only do the large muscle groups work but also many smaller less frequently used muscle groups fire creating a more balanced muscle tone. Most exercises are done in elongated positions so muscles become longer and leaner instead of short, contracted, and bulky.Since there is such a strong emphasis on mobility of the spine and other joints pilates helps to prevent future problems such as arthritis, and osteoporosis, as well as helping to alleviate common back, neck and shoulder pain, sciatica and other ailments.Finally because there is a strong focus on breath exercises are done efficiently and stress is released. 
I've heard that you don't sweat when you do Pilates?
If you are working to your full potential you will feel that you have really worked and been challenged. You will sweat!   
Appointments  
Students use all Pilates equipment including: Reformer, Tower, Wunda Chair, and Mat
Morning and evening appointments are available
Private or duet sessions offered
Sessions are 1 hour long
Prices
Private session $75 (package of 5 $350)
Duet session $45 (package of 5 $200)
